To all Chairpersons and Members of Employment Insurance Boards of Referees
Subject: 2010 EI Monitoring and Assessment Report
We would like to remind you that the 2010 EI Monitoring and Assessment Report is available to Board members for their interest and information on the Board of Referees Website from the left hand side menu under “Employment Insurance Monitoring and Assessment Reports”.
The Commission must monitor and assess the impacts of EI reform on a yearly basis and provide the Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) with the report no later than March 31 of each year. Typically, the Minister unveils the report in the spring but this year, on account of the federal election, it was released in the summer which explains why it is being brought to your attention now.
The Employment Insurance Monitoring and Assessment Report helps to provide a clear understanding of the Employment Insurance program’s impact on the Canadian economy and its effectiveness in addressing the needs of Canadian workers and employers.
The evidence provided through regular monitoring and assessment has served to give solid guidance for modifications to the EI program.
We invite you to consult Employment Insurance Monitoring and Assessment Reports for further details on the subject.
